Who is behind display?
The concept for the space was developed and will be operated in the future by the non-profit Frankfurt-based NODE e.V. / NODE Forum for digital Arts on behalf of and in cooperation with the Digitalization Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main.
Digitalization Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main
The Digitalization Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main is committed to ensuring that new digital solutions make everyday life easier, faster, and more sustainable for the people of Frankfurt. It works with many areas of the city administration to make services available online, make data openly accessible, and use modern technologies to create a more livable and environmentally friendly city. In this way, Frankfurt is becoming a city that conserves resources, improves quality of life, and remains economically strong.
NODE Forum for digital Arts / NODE e.V.
Frankfurt-based NODE e.V. was founded in 2008 and has since established itself as a platform for practical, artistic, and critical exchange on technology and digitality. Originally created as a community for an international creative software community, NODE has been able to develop into a sustainable support structure for artists and creatives since 2025 thanks to financial support and ongoing advice from the Crespo Foundation.
NODE designs continuing education formats, festivals, international exchange formats, and interdisciplinary artistic programs. These include the NODE+CODE lecture and meetup series, which regularly invites a community of artists, designers, and coders to take a look behind the scenes of digital art projects.
Supported by the Youth and Social Welfare Office of the City of Frankfurt am Main and in collaboration with a network of children's and youth work institutions and the Institute for Art Education at Goethe University Frankfurt, NODE is also developing the youth program Digitale Welten (Digital Worlds). Digitale Welten offers programs that bring together cultural, political, and IT education. Key projects include the Digitale Welten Festival and Jugend hackt Frankfurt am Main. Since 2020, NODE e.V. has been a recognized youth welfare organization.
The next major project is the establishment of a Digital Arts Lab as a workspace and experimental space for artists as part of the Kulturcampus Frankfurt in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Science of the City of Frankfurt am Main.
Today, NODE's work focuses on teaching critical digital skills and developing formats for and with artists, educators, researchers, creative coders, and technology enthusiasts of all ages.
